TESTIMONIALS

Here’s what people have to say about working with Randy Crenshaw…

As far as I know, Randy Crenshaw has never been convicted of a felony of any kind.

Ray Colcord

Composer

Randy Crenshaw is simply the best. Here’s a little secret: Randy Crenshaw IS Charlie Sheen.

Grant Geissman

Guitarist/songwriter, (co-composer of the hit TV series "Two And A Half Men")

There seems to be no limit to Randy’s abilities. He sight-reads his parts perfectly. I mean, like, first take; then we move on! Whatever style is required, he nails: jazz, classical, pop, musical theater, anything. But what closes the deal for Randy is that since he is an accomplished arranger in his own right, he knows exactly what he is singing and how everything fits together. As if that wasn’t enough, he is a great (and often hilarious) voiceover artist. When you want it done right, you call Randy Crenshaw.

Gordon Goodwin

Composer and leader of the Big Phat Band

I have worked with Randy Crenshaw for well over 10 years and can say without a doubt that he is one of the most multi-talented people in the music/entertainment industry. His capabilities as a musician, solo vocalist, vocal contractor, voiceover actor and arranger are unsurpassed. He continues to surprise and amaze me with his endless abilities. Randy is my first call for more types of projects than I can count, and I feel extremely blessed to not only have him in my talent pool, but to know him as a friend as well.

Edo Guidotti

Composer/arranger/keyboardist/producer, (Crystal Cruises, Celebrity Cruises, Disneyland, Blizzard Entertainment)

I’ve worked with Randy for many years in all kinds of different vocal sessions, and he always comes through in a big way. It isn’t often you find someone with an authentic sound who also “gets it” right away and can be laying down tracks 10 minutes after arriving. Randy is one of LA’s best.

Steve "Bone" Hampton

Co-Founder, Composer, Emoto, (award-winning L.A. ad music house)

Working with Randy has always been one of the great pleasures of being in the music-for-film-and-TV business. He’s perfectly creative, subtle, wacky, emotional, serious, over the top… you name it, as well as being an incredible mimic. All this, and he’s one of the funniest guys I know. I love working with his girls as well!

Denis Hannigan

Composer ("Recess," "CatDog," "Beakman's World")

Randy Crenshaw is simply the best singer I have ever worked with. His versatility is astounding. He gives you more from a song than you thought possible. He is a musician of the first degree, and he also happens to be one of the funniest people on earth, which makes every recording session fast and fun. He can “do it all”!

Mike Himelstein

Songwriter/producer

Randy Crenshaw is an incredibly talented and versatile singer. There’s nothing he can’t do. It’s almost scary, the way he effortlessly goes from genre to genre. But not just kind of… He really owns whatever style he sings. From Tom Jones to Roger Daltrey, to a youthful comical guy, to a heartfelt ballad, he nails it for you. When Randy is doing a session for me, I know I can relax. He’s also fast, and has a great ear. Usually the hang with him takes longer than the session, ’cause he’s a joy to hang out with as well. I’m thankful to have him in my arsenal.

Danny Jacob

Guitarist/composer

Randy Crenshaw has always impressed me with his talent, his vast knowledge of music and his ability to perform a variety of styles. For a fast, productive and professional recording session, I always call Randy Crenshaw.

Michael Jay

Songwriter/producer, Jambo Studios

Randy Crenshaw is an amazing talent. I’ve hired Randy as a soloist and group singer for over two dozen shows I’ve recorded for Princess Cruises and various other projects. I’ve yet to throw a style at Randy that he can’t handle. From Motown to Broadway to rap, Randy can do absolutely anything! Add to that his unequaled sight singing ability, his musicianship, his incredible instincts, and the positive vibe and wonderful sense of humor he brings to every session; well, what more could a producer ask for? Well, I’ll tell you… Randy can do impersonations, seems to have an unlimited supply of comical voices, and he’s an awesome whistler, too! As I said, he’s simply an amazing talent, and I feel fortunate to have worked with him and to know him.

Nelson Kole

Composer/arranger/keyboardist/producer

I have worked with Randy Crenshaw for many years. He is blessed with an outstanding voice, and the work he has done for me as a singer has been consistently of the highest possible standard. He always comes to my sessions fully prepared and rehearsed, always understands the flavor and style of whatever song he is singing, and always sings in tune. His demeanor has always been a delight, and I’m happy to say I have some memorable recordings he has done for me. I cannot recommend his services too highly.

Jeremy Lubbock

Songwriter/composer/arranger

Is there anything that Randy Crenshaw can’t do? Jazz, pop, classical, character voices, incredible sense of humor for voiceovers – the list of talents goes on and on. I won’t make an album without Randy’s voice backing me up. He did the complicated vocal arrangements for my musical, “Harmony” which had its world premiere at the La Jolla Playhouse. Whenever I need expert singing on my projects, Randy is my first call.

Barry Manilow

Recording artist/composer/producer

Randy Crenshaw is an exceptional singer. We’ve used him on numerous occasions and will continue to do so in the future. He’s professional, reliable, but most importantly, he’s talented.

Bryan Monroe

Director of Production, Disney Character Voices

Randy is one of the most talented and versatile singers I’ve ever had the pleasure to work with (and I’ve been very lucky to have worked with some amazing people). He can sing in such a wide variety of musical styles; I’m always amazed at his many talents. Here’s just a sampling of the kinds of sessions he’s sung on for me: baritone in a barbershop quartet, lead vocal in a Pearl Jam-like rock song, classical vocal on a choral excerpt, comic lead vocal in a re-recording of “Monster Mash,” background vocalist on the “Family Guy” and “American Dad” theme songs, falsetto imitation of a female impersonator doing Judy Garland (got that?), and numerous country-style lead and background vocals. Oh, and don’t forget those Beach Boy vocals. And… he’s great fun to work with, so how can you go wrong? Come on now, call this guy!

Walter Murphy

Composer/arranger, ("Family Guy," "American Dad," "A Fifth Of Beethoven")

After spending countless hours in the studio over many years as a producer, I have a very short list of my “go-to” singers. Randy has always been on the top of that list, whether you need lead vocals, backgrounds, or you don’t know what you need because of a crazy client. Vocally gifted beyond description, a real team player and no ego… This guy gets it done every time, whether it’s McDonald’s, Toyota, or the California Egg Commission. You better hire him before I do!

Kevin Nadeau

Composer/producer/original music & sound design

I have had the pleasure of working with Randy Crenshaw on several Dreamworks Animated productions, including both film and DVD special projects for “Shrek 2,” “Shrek The Third,” “Over The Hedge,” “Madagascar” and “Flushed Away.” He is a true professional in every sense of the word. His range as both a vocalist and voiceover artist is incredible. One minute he’s singing opera for “Shrek The Third,” and next he’s doing his interpretation of a slimy singing slug in “Flushed Away.” It’s his talent, desire to get it right and overall enthusiasm that makes me go back to Randy each time. He’s a joy to work with and never lets me down.

Sunny Park

Executive in Charge of Music, Dreamworks Animation

Randy Crenshaw is one of the most amazingly talented people I have ever worked with in my many, many years in the music business. First off, he can sing almost anything. His demeanor is one of the most relaxed of anybody who’s ever walked through the doors of my studio. It’s a guarantee that any session Randy is on will not only sound great, but that everybody involved will have a great time. And go home with an achy stomach from laughing so hard… Randy is the quintessential professional when it comes to singing. He’s always on time, and always ready for anything or anybody. There’s never an attitude other than “wonderful” when he’s working. Whether he is performing as a background vocalist, lead vocalist, voiceover artist, or sound-alike expert, he always gives 110% of his remarkable talent. But all of these qualities are secondary to what really impresses me about Randy — he is totally committed to his family, God, and his friends. There are many talented people in the music business, but there is only one Randy Crenshaw!

Theodore Perlman

Producer/arranger/guitarist/composer/engineer

I have personally known the person of Randy Crenshaw for a number of years now, and I can say that he has never stolen money from me nor defiled any of my animals. More seriously, Randy is simply one extraordinary singer and musician. His voice and his musicianship are without equal. His work on the score for “Happy Feet” alone was a revelation. He makes every vocal session a joy, and has helped me make music work that simply shouldn’t have worked! If I need — in tune, in time, 27 different options/voices, solo plus backing choir — really quickly, then I call Randy.

John Powell

Composer, ("Happy Feet," "Ice Age 2," "Horton Hears A Who," "The Bourne Supremacy," etc.)

Randy Crenshaw is by far the most talented and versatile vocal soloist I have ever had the pleasure of working with. Whether soloistic, stylized, choral or character-driven, his musicality and consummate professionalism blows me away each and every time. And to top it off, he’s one of the nicest individuals you’ll ever meet.

Jasper Randall

Vocal Contractor, Encompass Music Partners, Calabasas, CA

Randy has always been a singer I can depend on to come up with the best vocal part, and more importantly, the true emotions of the songs he sings. Not to mention that it’s always a fun day when he’s in the studio!

Marty Rifkin

Multi-instrumentalist/engineer/producer

Randy Crenshaw is a musical treasure, and for twenty years, he’s been making me look good to all the producers I work for. When he sang on all the Disney shows we did, he knocked the producers’ socks off. He sang ALL THE VOICES on the famous Scott Hamilton ice skating number where Scott did the entire “Wizard of Oz” in 5 minutes. Talk about a tour-de-force for Randy! I’ve been working on a Broadway musical for years now, and Randy sang all the demos. Invariable, the stars approached, the backers, the casts, EVERYONE, wants to know who sang the lead on the demo. I proudly tell them: Randy Crenshaw!

Glen Roven

Composer/arranger

Of all the studio singers in town, I can honestly say…he is one of them! No, seriously, they don’t get any better! And he’s funny, too.

Bill Schnee

Producer/Engineer

Randy has given the projects we work on a life that is not possible without incredible vocal talents and acting abilities. Our projects require more than just a vocal that’s “in tune”; they require the ability to become the character and add the qualities of that character to the vocal performance. Simply put, I can’t think of anyone who does it better.

Jeff Sheridan

Producer/engineer/owner, Soundworks Studios, Burbank, CA

I’ve had the pleasure and privilege of working with Randy as part of the Hollywood Film Chorale on several occasions. His contributions to my SFX compositions for the Academy Awards, the NBA Finals and the Habitat for Humanity projects were invaluable. These pieces required expert interpretation, as well as people willing to throw themselves into a testing situation, both musically and in performance. The works benefited hugely from the expert input of Randy, who was an absolutely key member.

Steve Sidwell

Composer/arranger www.stevesidwell.com

Randy is one of the most talented, versatile (and funny!) performers I’ve ever had the chance to work with. He really is a guy who can “do it all”, plus he’s just a PLEASURE to work with and a total pro. We always have a blast any time Randy is in the booth. I honestly can’t say enough good stuff about him!

Evan Spiridellis

JibJab Bros. Studios, Co-Founder / Art Guy

I’ve had the pleasure of working with Randy on numerous recordings for the Disney “Lost Chords” projects. Besides having a great first name, his talent and humor bring to life every character he has played for us. I know every time he’s in session, it’s going to be a great day. I honestly look for material, just so I get to work with him.

Randy Thornton

Supervising Producer / Music Historian, Disney Music Group

Randy is one of LA’s finest singers. His ability to adapt to any style of music and sight-read complex harmonies are among his MANY singing talents. Randy will always be on the “first call list” for all of our projects.

Bob Wackerman

Producer, Audio by the Bay Entertainment Group

Randy Crenshaw is one of the most talented and versatile singers and arrangers that I’ve ever worked with. I’ve known Randy for more than thirty years, and thus had the pleasure of working with him on a variety of projects. Whether performing, arranging, or producing, Randy is an extraordinarily gifted talent — and incredibly fun and easy to work with as well. Simply put, he is my “go-to” guy for all things involving vocal music.
